Activities for Gifted Children - Reptiles and Amphibians

Author(s): Jane Bourke; Terry Allen (Illustrator)

Science

The books in this excellent series are designed to provide teachers of gifted children in the 9+ age range with a multimedia based set of resources that will inform, challenge and extend. The activities are structured to provide materials that are relevant to the needs and abilities of gifted students. This appropriate curriculum approach is achieved through the use of Content Levels: Finding Out; Information Using; and Creating/Evaluating. The series utilises a three-pronged approach: Alternet CD-ROM - a database of information and additional resources; Research using traditional print related materials; and Internet research providing a stimulating learning environment for students. Though the books are written for teachers working with gifted students who are withdrawn from the regular classroom, they can also be used within the classroom as a whole class or individual activity. This book, Reptiles and Amphibians, explores the features and behaviours of crocodilians, snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs, salamanders and newts.
